SPLIT LINKS AS NEW 1 These are a set of Split Links commonly used on "Snatch Straps" for quick connection when recovering a 4X4 stuck in mud or deep sand. The idea is to have a strap connected to front of vehicle being recovered and another on the rear of recovering vehicle, a link is placed on each strap. With the first strap with link placed alongside the vehicle to be towed out the second one is carried alongside the recovering vehicle and connected whilst in motion. 1 The reason for this is that in some instances the forward motion of the towing vehicle is required to lift the other vehicle out of the bog and also to prevent the towing vehicle from getting bogged as well. The wheels of the bogged vehicle must be in forward motion at the same time the straps tighten between both vehicles.
